2025 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ZERO WASTE REPORT: The activities of the event ended on a good note. The Nasarawa State Government approved the partnership of AfriEarth Foundation and Nasarawa State Government to lead Nasarawa State towards ZERO WASTE. AfriEarth Foundation is open to collaboration from recyclers, non-profit organization, entrepreneurs, international bodies and other key players in environmental protection.
Below are the activities held for the 2025 International Day of Zero Waste;
DAY 1:
• Press Conference and Advocacy at NUJ office
• Visit to the Chairman of Lafia Local Government to present him with the award of excellence for exhibiting sustainability leadership and for engaging the members of community in environmental protection.
DAY 2:
• Shop to Shop advocacy and sensitization
• Online campaign-WhatsApp
DAY 3:
• Presentation of Environmental Award of Excellence to the General Manager of Nasarawa State Environmental Protection Agency for Enforcing environmental sanitation and environment protection policies.
• Presentation of award of environmental excellence to the Honorable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources for Active Actions that promotes Sustainable Development goals.
• A round table discussion with the Honorable Commission and the team of AfriEarth Foundation on how to lead Nasarawa State towards ZERO WASTE. A partnership agreement was reached.
DAY 4:
• The team of AfriEarth Foundation and the management of Nasarawa State Ministry of Environment visited different communities and location in Nasarawa State to sensitize the public on waste management and enforce compliance of environmental sanitation.
• The team of AfriEarth Foundation were shown vulnerable areas, flash points, market place, abattoir, motor park etc. and had discussion and sensitize the leaders and members of the groups. Also met with community leaders and members of the communities to educate them on waste disposal, management and ensuring compliance in sanitation.
• Last Day: The 30 March program was not held because of the Sallah celebration. But the representative of AfriEarth Foundation visited the radio house to talk about the 2025 International Day of ZERO WASTE and how to lead our communities towards ZERO WASTE.

Note: Awared of Environmental Excellencce presented to government officials and other key players is to appreciate their contribution to environmental protection but basically to motivate to do more ensuring the sucess of ZERO WASTE in Nasarawa State
