Clean Environment: Nasarawa State Government Partner with AfriEarth Foundation

– The commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Bar. Isaac Danladi during the International Day of Zero Waste activities organized by AfriEarth Foundation at Lafia. The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s willingness to work with AfriEarth Foundation to make Nasarawa state a model of sustainable development. He said, in line with the focus of the Nasarawa State Governor, His Excellency, Alh. A.A. Sule, he is committed to making Nasarawa State a clean State in the country. He emphasized on finding a lasting solution to the challenges of plastic and textile waste in the state, having recognized that Nasarawa state is blessed with abundant natural resources and a broad based biodiversity which needs to be protected. He lamented on the impact of climate change in the state and requires a holistic and inclusive approach in mitigating the phenomenon and of course a better adaptive measures to reduce the impact.


The Commissioner for the Environment and Natural Resources Mr. Isaac Danladi with  four others key players in environmental protection were honored with awards for environmental excellence by AfriEarth Foundation in commemoration of the 2025 International Day of ZERO WASTE expressed their appreciation for recognizing their contribution towards environmental protection. The Project Director of AfriEarth Foundation, Amb. Lawrence Mayaki-Akinpelu exalted the Honourable Commissioners actions towards sustainable development goals, and urge the Commissioner and four other awardees to see the Award as a motivation to do more in protecting the environment and the natural resources. He reiterated the Foundation’s readiness to work with the Nasarawa State in ensuring ZERO WASTE and eco-friendly environment.

Amb. Lawrence Mayaki further stated that there is need to also prioritize youth participation in climate actions and environmental protection, women empowerment in sustainability, environmental education and community engagement in the struggle for a safe, healthy and sustainable environment.
